About The Muslimah

Islam blesses our life in countless ways. God has honored us with Islam in which we find the answers to all of our problems. We have the answer for depression, the answer to finding our identity, the answer to becoming better people, managing our anger, moving on from hurtful memories and the list continues. We have been granted the way to live a healthier life in spirit and body. Islam is a way of life that sets our life in order because it conquers every aspect of our being.

The goal of The Muslimah is to encourage Muslim women (muslimaat) to find the answers to everyday problems within the exalted path of Islam. Life is not easy these days and our basic human foundation needs repaired. We are facing the problem of not knowing who we are and what we should be doing. The images and words that are plastered throughout books, magazines, television and internet, about what women “should be” are not what we should be after. We will not attain true happiness if we get caught up in this confusion.

Muslim women are daughters, sisters, wives, mothers, friends, neighbors, and more. Whatever roles we play in this world we find ourselves in need of guidance for our daily affairs. If we find that we are calling ourselves Muslimaat (pl. of Muslimah) then we must look deeper and realize that the faith we have been granted is a Mercy to us. There is no need to look around to find the solutions elsewhere. By God’s Mercy, we have the solutions in front of us. If we can’t find a solution then we must become seekers who seek from those with higher insight than ourselves, for God does state:

“Ask the followers of the Remembrance (al-Qur’an) if ye know not!” (16:43)

Many of us experience the chaos of not having enough time. We live in such a fast paced world that it seems too difficult to find that moment to rejuvenate our spirits. There must be time for rejuvenation of the soul, time to acknowledge what works and what doesn’t work in our lives, time to look for better alternatives, and change through the building of good habits.

I hope that The Muslimah will serve as a place where we can enliven our true purpose within our hearts so that this becomes what we seek, speak, and live.

May He grant us success in our tasks. Amin
